This past weekend, I got to take my first "business" trip. I am officially grown up! I work as an underwriter for an insurance company and there are various agencies throughout Utah that write with our company. Recently, the higher-ups at work thought it would be a good idea if we underwriters made quarterly visits to the agencies. I have to admit that, at first, I was not thrilled with the idea and it was a rough start. However, after visiting a few agencies, I am really starting to enjoy these visits. Any time out of the cubicle is good time, right? When the agencies were divied up, I got some in the Provo area and the ones in Logan since I used to live there and know a lot of the agents already. After some complaints from a co-worker who was assigned agents in St. George, I was able to switch - so now I cover both ends of Utah and a few agencies in the middle. Fine by me. So, last Thurs I loaded up the company Galant (Gary) and headed south.
(I took the below pic because I was so excited about my awesome parallel parking job. You wouldn't think that a Galant is much bigger than a Beetle, but it is and it's a lot harder to park. There was a guy sitting in the red Ford behind and saw me get out and take a picture. He laughed at me when I walked by him. Good times).
On my way down, I was listening to a book on tape (book on iPod?) and enjoying seeing new sites (I don't go south very often) when I noticed I was passing a lot of cars. I thought: "Why is everyone going so slow? The speed limit is 80 for crying out loud?" Then I looked down...
Please don't tell my bosses!
(and, YES, I took the time to pull out my camera & take a picture before I slowed down. It's a sickness and I am seeking help!)
Since this was my first business trip, it was also the first time that I have ever stayed alone in a hotel room. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be and, aside from the super hard bed, I slept pretty well.
I was in dire need of some beautiful, warm weather and I was not disappointed! It did rain on Saturday, but it was close to 80 the whole time I was there. It was awesome! Especially since it is still snowing in stupid Utah County. I guess I don't necessarily live in the wrong state, just the wrong end of the state.
A major bonus of visiting St George was seeing two of my very favorite people Amber and Zach. I met them at Utah State and they are great! There was an Arts Festival and I got some really cool jungle prints. I'm not sure where I'm going to put them, but I'm excited to have them.
One of my very favorite parts of the weekend was that we got to see Allred perform on Friday night. This was hands down my favorite show of his. I guess seeing him three times in as many months definitely makes me a groupie. I wonder how I can become his biggest fan? He has another show in Provo this Saturday, so I'm well on my way to achieving that title because I'm definitely going.
Most who know me know that I'm not much of a dog lover (aside from Shannon's and Janae's dogs). It's not that I don't like them, I just don't much like the fact that they're dirty and smelly and slobbery. I like other people's dogs just fine - but usually only in small doses. Zach and Amber have a chihuahua named Rusty and he is pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen. I may even be tempted to get a dog one day if he's half as cool as Rusty.

It was really nice to get out of Happy Valley and I can't wait to go back!
