Public Service Announcement

Many of you may not know that I work for an insurance company (Jordan didn't even know. She thought I worked for a mortgage co). I mostly handle auto insurance. A couple of weeks ago, as I was leaving work, I noticed a car on the street in front of my office was on fire! I, of course, had my camera in my purse, so I took a couple of pics and was relieved that the owner had gotten out of the car and had full coverage on this vehicle. Before I ripped out my camera, I ran back into my office to tell my boss who grabbed the fire extinguisher and went to assist. Thankfully, they kept the flames under control until the fire department got there. We were really worried that the car was going to explode, but it didn't - thank goodness. Anyway, I just want to remind everyone to beef up their insurance coverage as high as you can. Keep full coverage on any vehicle you can't afford to replace in case it's stolen or totaled in an accident. Also, I highly recommend that you have higher than state minimum limits of liability. I know insurance is a frustrating thing and a lot of people don't understand it very well. Please feel free to shoot any questions my way. I'd be happy to help out.

Freedom Festival

Part of the 4th of July celebration in Provo is the hot air balloon extravaganza. Cade and I woke up super early because the balloons take off at 6:30 a.m. It was a pretty cool event. Cade probably didn't love it as much as I did, but he was a good sport. I love hot air balloons and would love to go up in one someday. Maybe next year!

This is my best little bro Cade. He came down last weekend to celebrate the 4th of July with me and we had a great time. He's been going to school at BYU Idaho which is way too far away. I may be letting the cat out of the bag, but he called me today to tell me that he just got a job as a nurse at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake, so he's moving closer! I am super excited. He's one cool kid and - ladies - he's single! If you are interested or know someone who is, I will give you his number! :)

Temple Square Service Project

A few weeks ago, we had a stake service project at Temple Square in Salt Lake. We thought we were going to plant flowers, but all we did was pull out the "spring" flowers so the "summer" flowers could be planted. It was pretty difficult for me because the majority of the flowers that we pulled out were perfectly healthy, beautiful tulips (which, in case anyone forgot, are my favs). It's okay, I'm over it now. Aside from the worms that Bryan kept throwing at me, I had a great time and it was cool to be at Temple Square.

So, apparently, there's not much to do in September because I know a lot of people with June birthdays (ha, ha). But, of course, I think they are cool just because of that fact. I haven't know Mariela all that long, but I think the world of her. She is always quick to give a smile and has the most contagious laugh. I really wanted to post this on her birthday, but I'm a little late. Feliz cumpleaños hija! Quiero agradecerte por ser una amiga muy guay y por siempre hacerme reir tanto. Gracias por tu amistad y por ir conmigo a SPIN para pasar tiempo juntos con nuestro novio secreto. Que regreses muy pronto porque te hecho de menos mucho! Come back soon! Life is so boring without you! I don't get any texts! :)

To finish of my week of a million concerts (okay, three), I saw Secondhand Serenade at Thanksgiving Point on June 11th. This guy is fairly new (at least to me) and I don't know his music too well, but I really like what I've heard and I loved his concert. The lead singer's name is John Vesely and Secondhand Serenade isn't a band, it's actually just him. How he chose the name Secondhand Serenade is a cute tale. He says that we get his songs secondhand because he serenades his wife first. All of his songs are written for her...cute, huh? How would that be? My favorite song of his is Fall For You and it's in my playlist. Here are some pictures of me, Melanie and her friend Amy - and, of course, John at the concert.

More Birthday Fun!

My good friends Kalli and Mariela threw me a birthday party after we got back from the Cherie Call concert. It was so much fun! They planned so many games and activities like singing, taking pics with big paper faces, pin the eyelashes on Cali (well, on a large picure of me anyway), making paper airplanes and giving prizes to whoever could hit me with the finished product and lots of fun and laughter! Like 40 people showed up, so it was a great party! Much better than spending my bday in bed being depressed about the fact that I'm old!

Cherie Call Concert

Since I haven't completely documented my incredibly cool birthday, I will do multiple posts tonight to catch everyone up...and to make it look like I'm on top of things that happen in my life. At one time, I thought this blog would be a good idea, but now I feel like a slacker for not posting more. After my hugely embarrassing (but fun!) mall experience in the morning of my birthday, a Winger's lunch and a movie with Janae and Jordan, I headed up the canyon for a Cherie Call concert with Mariela, Kalli, Marie and Julia. It was a really fun concert - super, duper cold, but fun. Again, I love to see people doing what they love. It's so inspiring. Here are some pics of the evening:
