I got to take a much needed vacation to Southern California for 10 days. It was awesome. I took over 2,000 pictures (I am seeking professional help, don't worry) so I am going to break down the trip and post by day.
The reason I went is because my best oldest sister planned a family vacation and asked it I wanted to go along. I know that she was just hoping for a nanny/photographer, but I'm okay with that, so I agreed. She invited me to drive with them from Idaho to California, but that's not my idea of a vacation, so I opted to meet them there. 17 hours in the car or a 1.5 hour flight. Hmmm. I think I made the right decision.
I'm doing these a little out of order because I flew down and stayed the first weekend with one of my besties Rachel and her adorable family. She has an 18-mo-old little girl and just had twins. Yeah, she's a little stressed out. It was so great to see her and meet her adorable little babies. I'll post those pictures next.
I'm going to start with Monday's adventure to the San Diego Zoo Safari. We bought the So California City Pass which gets you into all of the cool So Cal parks and it includes one day at the Safari Park or at the Zoo. We chose the park because I hear the Zoo is a whole lot of walking and you don't get to see many animals because their habitats are so big and they hang out in the back of them. I've only heard great things about the Zoo Safari, so we went there. We were not disappointed.
(I really wish I could post pics of my adorable nieces and nephews, but since this is a public blog, I choose not to. But, believe me, they are stinking adorable).
I have this weird fascination with flamingos. I love them. Pretty sure I'll be that old lady down the street that has 100's of those plastic ones on my front lawn in just a few years.
Ok, how cute is he?!?! He's only a few weeks old and we didn't get to see him close up because it was apparently his nap time. (Don't you love how he's biting his mom's hand?) I guess it's a good thing we didn't get to see him close because I probably would have tried to steal him and then I would have been arrested...or beaten to death by this next guy.
He doesn't look like he puts up with any crap.
Besides, I wouldn't be able to take Junior anywhere once he got this big because he wouldn't fit in my Beetle.
Doesn't it look like I was in Africa??? I mean, aside from the fences and palm trees and buildings and trams and 1,000's of people. Just like Africa, right?
C'mon, this little guy is probably the most adorable little creature I have ever seen. I have never seen such a small elephant. He was so cute! He was only a few weeks old too.
I love, love giraffes. I was most excited to see them and only got to at the end of the day on our 'safari' around the tundra. As luck would have it, this curious little fella came super close to the tram. So cute.
It was such a great day. I highly recommend the Safari Park.
