Dear Mr. Winter...We need to talk...You're coming on way too strong...I just think we're moving too fast...

It's definitely not me...it's you.

Great Movie!

I just saw the matinee showing of Whip It with Ellen Page and Drew Barrymore and I loved, loved every single second of it. It was so great but, sadly, didn't get very good reviews (who are these critics anyway?). There is a roller derby league in Salt Lake that I've wanted to see for awhile but haven't been able to. It doesn't help that they only play once a month. Now I have a renewed interest and will go soon. Just as soon as I can sit for a long period of time without pain...

Which brings us to the next topic - that of my fantastic surgery. My lovely parents took me to Salt Lake bright and early Monday morning for my routine Cholecystectomy (say that 5 times fast). I wasn't too worried. After all, how intense could an out-patient surgery be? I had no idea. It knocked me flat on my butt and left me there this entire week. I'm still in a good amount of pain, but it's getting better everyday, so I hope to be good as new in no time.
The surgery is done laparoscopically (which does not mean painlessly) so instead of one 4 inch incision, I got 4 one inch incisions, which is better - I know. The surgeon actually pulled my gall bladder out of my belly button - which kinda creeps me out. I'm also not excited that I'll most likely have to sit next bikini season out. :) By Thursday night, I was running out of my lovely Lortab and was about to call in to get a re-fill. However, I just happened to be watching Oprah about people who are addicted to pain killers, so I decided to just fight it out with Advil. So far, so good. Addiction walks a fine line.

So, obviously, my belly button is sore, but I have three smaller incisions on the top of my stomach just under my rib cage. I haven't left my apartment much this week, but when I do, I honestly have to decide whether I want to wear jeans or a bra. At this point, both are not an option. I chose to wear stretchy pants and a bra (with a shirt, I promise) to the movie today but was in so much pain that I had to un-do my bra at a stop light on the way home. The guy in the SUV next to me didn't know what hit him. :)

I went to the hospital last night to visit a dear friend. Sharla had her thyroid removed two days ago because of a tumor that was growing on it. I just want to bawl for her. She is a nurse and just started grad school a few weeks ago. In one of her classes, they were studying the thyroid and were feeling each others'. Her professor felt hers and knew immediately that something was wrong. As much as this week has sucked for me, I can't help but be thankful that it was a relatively simple thing and that I'll make a full recovery. I can't imagine dealing with cancer. Please pray for Sharla.
