I'm so stinking excited for this!

Personal Space

So, at various points in life, we all find ourselves standing in line. Lately, I have been paying attention to people's behavior while standing in line at restaurants, grocery stores, the DMV and the movie theater. I'm not sure if it's just a Utah thing, or if it's a human being thing, but people are so dang anxious to move through the line and get on with life that they are, too often, extremely annoying. This anxiety is manifest in a variety of ways: exhasperated gasps, eyes rolling, tapping feet, rude comments, or, my personal favorite, actually spooning with the person in front of them.

I am all-too-often the person in front and the recipient of the vertical spooning. (That makes me the little spoon, right?)

Now, I don't think it is too much to ask that people respect one to two feet of personal space. I actually think it should be an official law. Last week, I went to Costa Vida for lunch and waited in line for about 10 minutes. There was this kid who was so dang excited to eat that he was basically pressed up against me the whole 10 minutes. Each time I would move up a bit just to get away from him, he would immediately scoot forward.

Maybe he was lonely.

When I had finally ordered my food and was just waiting to pay, the dumb kid actually tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to move up. Seriously??? Is it really going to make a difference if I move up 1.5 feet? Are you going to get to eat 5 seconds faster?

Agh...it was so annoying and it took everything I had not to make a snarky remark. (And we all know how much I like to be snarky).

So, now I make it a point and move extra slow through lines when there's an impatient person who obviously is such a big deal that they're too good to stand patiently in line like everyone else.

I'll show them annoying.

Wasting Time At Work.

So, I found the funniest website that has a variety of graphs that are fantastically hilarious. I will post them from time to time starting with this one:

My friend Erica brought me back a souvenier from the Caribbean. The world's longest, most annoying head cold. Sure, she suffered with it first, but at least she got to do it with a tan. And, she got it while on a boat in the Caribbean for a week.

I got it by going to work.

I haven't been able to breathe through my right nostril for about 6 days.

Thanks Erica. I owe you.
