Lifehouse and Daughtry

Woohoo! I got to see Lifehouse!..and Daughtry! I love concerts and this was no exception. I went with my awesome friend Shannon (I counted last week and we've been to like 20 concerts together - crazy) and a few other crazy girls. We had a good time and it was a pretty uneventful night. You never know what's going to happen at concerts - or a night out with Shannon, let's be honest :) - but it was pretty calm, besides the incredibly loud music, that is. No drunk people spilling their beer on us, no scary old ladies telling us to sit down, no one pushing us around to get to the stage...not even any crazy mullets this time. Nothing but a great show and some very delicious men to look at!
None of the Daughtry photos turned out, but I'm kind of okay with that. Daughtry was good, but I was definitely there for Lifehouse. My boys did not disappoint.

The Dam(n) Incident

A few summers ago, I went boating at Hyrum Dam with Libby, Amber, Zach and some of Zach's family. I came across these photos today and have been thinking about that crazy day. I love boating, as in being IN the boat, not so much being whipped around a lake behind a boat. Maybe it's because whenever I'm behind a boat with any member of my extended family driving, my life is literally in danger.

(I am so in love with the next picture)So, I relunctantly agreed to get on the tube with Amber and Libby, but only because Zach's sister agreed to go slow. And, she did. She was really nice and we had a fun little ride. However, Amber kept falling off because she was on top of us and couldn't get a very good hold. After a couple of loops around the lake, she decided to get in the boat, but Libby and I held on for more.

Which, we probably shouldn't have. I'm not real sure what happened but am very anxious to see the replay in heaven. The boat turned, and since we weren't going very fast, it didn't whip us around but somehow it created a hole in the water that we fell into. When we hit the wall of water on the other side, our faces smashed into each others' arms because we were hanging onto opposite handles, then we flew really high into the air. I had my eyes closed (because I'm a chicken) so I don't really know what happened but my face hurt so bad I remember thinking that I would have to spend the rest of my life deformed because I was positive I broke my cheekbone. And I also wondered when I was going to hit the water. We must have flown way high because it took forever for me to hit the water.

When I got to the surface and felt that my face was still intact, I looked around for Libby and swam over to her when I found her. I think I was literally in shock because all I could do was laugh, even though my face hurt so bad. And, so did my arm where Libby had hit her face. Libby was pretty frantic and asked, "Do I have all my teeth?" She did, but I couldn't answer her because I couldn't stop laughing. She looked at me like I was crazy because this was so not the time to laugh. So, she asked again, "Do I have all my teeth?" Bless her heart. She was really hurt.

So, needless to say, I haven't been on a tube since and probably never will again.

Hooray for tulips!

Bring on spring
!

(it's seriously sad that it's the middle of April and we're just barely getting into spring. Remind me why I live in Utah again??? But, as hard and long as winters are here, there's nothing like a Utah spring and summer - am I right?)

St Geezy

A couple of weeks ago, I took a little Spring Break and headed south to St George to spend the weekend with 3 of my favorite people...well, 2 people and the most adorable little dog you've ever seen. It was a little hectic getting there, but not until I made it all the way to Scipio Utah (where is that, you ask? - it's in the middle of Nowhere - literally).

78.45 miles south of Provo, to be exact.

I had less than half a tank of gas when I left Provo. I decided not to get gas there because I left later than I had wanted and I knew that I would need to stop along the way anyway. As I got close to the Scipio exit, I had a little less than a quarter of a tank and actually debated whether or not I should push it 24.62 more miles to Fillmore.

I decided to stop.

I'm so glad I did.

I pulled up to the gas tank and reached into my purse.

No wallet.
No checkbook.
No credit cards.
No cash.
Not even any loose change.

Oh wait, I found a dollar in my pocket.

One dollar.

Awesome.

So, at that point, I did what any single girl all alone in the middle of the desert would do...I had a mini breakdown right there at the gas station in Scipio.

I didn't really know what to do. I honestly calculated in my head how much gas I could get if I bummed a dollar from everyone at the gas station. Not much.

I would make a lousy bum.

The funniest/saddest part of this whole thing is that after I had loaded all my stuff in my car before I left Provo, I remembered that I needed gum, so I went all the way back upstairs into my apartment for a stupid pack of gum.
So very important.

Too bad that pack of gum couldn't put gas in my car or get me to St George.

So, I called my best baby sister Jordan to rescue me. After all, she definitely owes me. She was awesome and agreed to leave the library where she was planning to spend the whole day studying for nursing finals (not easy) to come save me. What a kid. She told me to just start driving north and that she would meet me where ever I could make it.

I actually made it all the way back to Santaquin which meant that Jordan only had to drive 21.37 miles to save me. I don't think I've ever been so glad to see her. I have never run out of gas, but was really, really close this time. I was definitely praying hard that it would all work out and it, thankfully, did!

I thought about bagging the whole St George trip, but I really wanted to go, so I filled up, thanked Jordan 100 times and headed back south. The 3.5 hour trip to St George took me about 5.5 hours, but I made it in one piece.

Amber and Zach are 2 of my best friends and it was so good to spend time with them. I only see them about once a year which is definitely not enough. The warm weather was so awesome and we did some fun things. Despite the rough start, it was a really fun weekend and I can't wait to go back!

I just took the Christmas lights and garland off my patio railing.

I figured it was time.

So long.

I just cancelled my Netflix account. I was a member for less than 2 months. I actually only joined so I could watch The Time Travelers Wife because it was never in at Redbox when it was first released. The funny part is that Netflix didn't have it either and I had to wait for quite awhile (like 2 or 3 weeks which, for me, is forever) and I ended up buying it before it came to me from Netflix.

Basically, if I want to see a movie, I usually see it in the theater and if I like it, I buy it. So, I really have no need for this particular service.

So, I just got online and cancelled.

For some reason, I feel a little sad.

Those people (when I say people, I mean the ones who chose what to say in the survey I took) at Netflix were so nice and wanted to make sure that my time with them was pleasant.

I feel like I just broke up with someone.

And, what's even worse is that they were so understanding, they even said I could come back whenever I wanted and they hoped to see me soon.

I'm kinda re-thinking my decision.

Okay, not really.

Dark Eyes

So, I went to the eye doctor last night and had my eyes dialated for the first time in my life. It's pretty trippy.

My favorite part is that after the doc puts those sting-y drops into your eyes and waits a minute until your pupils get really big and extremely sensitive to light, he spends 20 minutes or so shining a very bright light in various directions around your eyeball.

Completely rude.

Pretty sure I'm still seeing spots.

So, this is what I'd look like if I were Latina...

...or a hungry vampire.

and...I'll have you know that I have survived the eye doctor, the dentist and the lady doctor this week.

I deserve a medal.

Save me...please!

I had quite the day yesterday, so was very grateful when I rolled into bed about 11 p.m. I was looking forward to 6.5 hours of blissful sleep before getting up for spin. I, thankfully, fell asleep quickly and was enjoying some pleasant dreams (you know, like actual sunshine and flowers in April instead of this dreadful snow we are still getting) when all of a sudden, the loudest, most awful noise ripped me from dreamland and was literally bursting my eardrums. I sat up really fast to try to figure out what the heck was going on.

It didn't take me long to realize that...IT WAS THE FIRE ALARM! I looked at the clock and it was 12:38 a.m. and I started freaking out because I could smell smoke. I jumped out of bed and quickly went through a list of the most crucial items to grab (a bra and pants being at the top of the list). I opened my bedroom door to assess the situation and found my roommate standing in her pj's in the middle of the kitchen.

She was laughing.

Are you kidding me?

My other roommate came out of her room just as the first said,

"False alarm! I just burned my toast!"

Again, are you kidding me???

Who has a hankering for toast at 12:30 in the morning? And what else could she possibly have going on at that hour that she couldn't park herself next to the toaster to make sure it didn't burn? (And, I'm pretty sure it had actually caught fire because of all the smoke in my apartment).

I looked at her and said, "Never again!" Then went back in my room and slammed the door.

(I'm so pleasant when I'm tired).

Since it freaked me out so much, I couldn't settle down enough to get back to sleep. Plus, my house smelled so dang bad and I was worried about damage to my lungs from smoke inhalation.

So, instead of 6.5 hours of sleep, I got about 4.

This totally justifies my crabby mood and the fact that I started nursing a Mountain Dew at 8:45 this morning.

Don't judge me.

I was the first one at work today. It definitely needs to be documented because it's never happened before.

And, I'm pretty sure it'll never happen again.
